Andy "A.J." Gundell - Founder/Chief Executive & Creative Officer
Andy is a musician, composer, songwriter, music supervisor/ director/ producer, and—most importantly now—the creator, co-owner, CEO and CCO of “Future Hits.”
He has that rare, versatile ability to create music and sound to picture, script, and library for TV, film, Internet, advertising, and musical theater…for commercial and broadcast usages…. for other singers and recording artists… and for himself as a singer/songwriter/producer and recording artist.
All of these talents combine to uniquely qualify him to lead the Future Hits team into the future itself—and in the process, to achieve their goal of re-inventing the production music library in the digital age.
Andy’s credits from a full-time career in the music business support this. He’s won thirteen Emmy awards—most recently, two for the PBS docu-drama “Voices in Conflict,” and an unsurpassed three in the Outstanding Original Song category. The others are for his original scores as a composer, his audio-post sound design and production, and his work as a music director/supervisor in the category of Music Direction and Composition for dramatic productions. He’s composed original and sync’ed licensed music for dozens of TV broadcasters and media clients, including ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, Fox, ESPN, MTV, NBA-TV, HBO, Disney, Discovery, Reader’s Digest, WSOF, Marvel, AT&T and more. He spent 15 years at ABC’s “All My Children” as a staff music director/composer--and leading contributor to five Emmys, as a member of the distinguished AMC music composing/directing team. Prior to that, he worked in a similar capacity for the daytime drama "Guiding Light," and as the music supervisor for the "Cosby" sitcom, co-composing with Mr. Cosby himself. Iconic artists as diverse as Nashville legend, Don Williams, and South African Nobel Peace Prize winner, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, have recorded A.J.’s music. His own recordings have been released by PolyGram Records, as a compilation of greatest TV hits called "Love On The Air"; as a songbook/CD of the same name by Cherry Lane Music; and as the indie album "Collection", for which the late great rock DJ Pete Fornatale referred to Andy as “a hidden treasure.” Spirit Music has administered Gundell’s song, scoring, and recording catalog for the last 14 years.
A.J. worked for several years as Composer/Executive Music Producer at Tonic, a state of the art audio-post and music house. There, he created the Tonic Song Library—and honed his skills for creating and developing an exceptional boutique indie music library. That endeavor lead to his fortuitous partnership with attorney/co-owner Kenneth Anand in the Axe & Gavel LLC; an ongoing affiliation with Spirit Music as TSL’s administrator; and an impressive run that enabled TSL to place over a thousand cuts in the visual media. All of that history, and the relationships that have been built and time-tested through the years, are now combining to provide the foundation for “Future Hits”—a music library committed to delivering the full range of publishing opportunities and revenue streams to its world-class roster of songwriter/composers, and the utmost in client services, music supervision, and A&R to its high-end licensees in the major media TV/film/advertising/new media industries.
The result is the vibiest, most exceptional collection of independent music available… “The Greatest Songs You Never Heard.” Future Hits.
Kenneth J. Anand - Co-Owner/Chief Operating Officer
In addition to being the Co-Owner and Chief Operating Officer of Future Hits, Kenneth runs a successful practice as a partner in a NYC law firm.
Kenneth’s pathway to joining Future Hits is a circuitous one, which started in highschool, producing hip hop music in the attic of his parent’s Montclair, New Jersey home. Quickly learning his way around digital audio workstations, samplers and other outboard gear, Kenneth left for college in Virginia, where he majored in communications and minored in computers and music. While in college, he expanded his musical repertoire to include analog and digital audio engineering and acoustics, continued to develop his chops as a producer working with local talent, and amassing a sizable vintage vinyl collection in the process.
After college, Kenneth moved back to New York City and attended Brooklyn Law School, where he gained the formal training that would allow him to go on to represent artists, entrepreneurs and other creatives in various legal matters, including employment, entertainment and intellectual property. Kenneth spent 7 years honing his skills as a litigator and general counselor at New York law firms before opening his own law firm in downtown Manhattan in 2009. Four years later, Kenneth moved to midtown and partnered with the New York office of California-based law firm, Ropers Majeski Kohn & Bentley, where he continues to represent businesses, entrepreneurs and creative individuals in a wide range of legal matters.
In 2009, Kenneth met A.J. Gundell, becoming his personal attorney and later, through a fortunate series of events, his business partner in Axe & Gavel LLC, the parent company of Future Hits. Kenneth was ecstatic at the prospect of partnering with such an accomplished musician and, years later, to be back in the music biz, combining his business, legal and creative talents to grow the Future Hits brand. Over the years, Andy and Kenneth have learned their talents truly complement each other as the duo have not only collaborated on business and legal matters, but creative ones as well - most recently the pair co-produced the theme song to a recurring show on NBC Sports.
Those who know Kenneth, know he is not only ambitious and multi-talented, but a huge music fan. Future Hits couldn’t be a better platform for Kenneth to apply his knowledge of business, law and music, and depending on the day, not necessarily in that order. More importantly, however, Future Hits is a place where Kenneth is living out his childhood dream and passion for shaping the world of music with some extremely talented business and creative people, all of whom who share the same dream and passion.
